DriftTape does not collect any personal information, use analytics or tracking, or send any data to external servers. Recordings and imported sounds stay on your device. There are no accounts and no cloud sync.

Overview

DriftTape is a granular synthesis instrument that turns audio you provide into ambient textures. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Microphone Access

DriftTape uses your device's microphone only when you choose to record source material for the grain engine. Recordings are saved locally to your device and are never uploaded anywhere.

Data That Stays on Your Device

The following data is accessed and stored locally on your device only:

Imported audio files: Files you import from the Files app are copied into DriftTape's local storage and never uploaded anywhere.
Recordings: Audio you record in the app is saved to local storage on your device.
Saved presets: Your custom macro presets are stored locally using standard iOS storage.
App preferences: Settings and other preferences are stored locally using standard iOS storage.

No Data Collection

DriftTape does not:

Collect any personal information
Use analytics or tracking services
Include any third-party advertising SDKs
Send any data to external servers
Access your contacts, location, or camera
Create user accounts or require sign-in

In-App Purchases

DriftTape offers an optional one-time in-app purchase to unlock Pro features. This transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information.

On-Device Processing

All granular synthesis and audio processing is performed locally on your device without any internet connection. No audio data ever leaves your device.

Third-Party Services

DriftTape does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The only external service involved is Apple's App Store for processing in-app purchases.

Children's Privacy

DriftTape does not collect any personal data from any user, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since we do not collect any contact information, we are unable to notify users directly of changes.
